I fail to see how embarrassment can be "cute"!

Well, okay. I imagine you're sitting at your desk in your study, with that catalogue in front of you. You're also taking notes, so that you can make sure all these points add up. But then suddenly this woman you think is kind of cute [MILLY NO.] starts teasing you a bit, and you start blushing, running your fingers through your hair, you forget to tally up your points... And you have probably fixed your cravat three times! How is that not adorable?!

[and then she thinks to follow up with dreamier descriptors, but that might be enough to kill him.]

I- mrrph - t-that's...

[WHAT IS THIS, WHY IS SHE SUDDENLY GOING ALL OLDBAG ON HIM? Also he did not fix his cravat three times! (It was just once.)

Edgeworth is flushing even more now and is thankful he cannot be seen with a very aghast, very red face.]

[A nicely-wrapped present with a tag reading "To: Milly, From: Natsuru" can be found by the mailbox. Inside, under the tissue paper, is an even smaller gift, an envelope, and a neatly folded dress.

If she opens the smaller gift, she'll find a bracelet. And the envelope, naturally, contains a handwritten card.]

I saw this dress while shopping a while back and thought of you. I'm pretty sure it'll fit - I tried one on in the same size just to make sure! If you don't like it, I promise we can go shopping together for something else later. Honestly, I probably owe you a few shopping trips by now.

I hope you like the bracelet, though. Even though we weren't assigned together, you've been a great big sister. And I especially wanted to thank you for all your help with the wedding! It must have been a lot of work, and me and Sayaka got so much of the attention. Thanks so much for making it happen, and being our maid of honor. It means a lot to both of us.

Anyway, Merry Christmas! I'm glad we decided to be sisters.

By contrast, the card is plain, with the following message written with an exquisite fountain pen:

[she laughs, and immediately grabs a pen and paper for note taking.]

And you are right, it is indeed for Makoto Yuuki. As for Makoto [Tachibana...wow, this is really confusing.] I never talked to him about a party although I did send him a gift, and perhaps it would not be a good idea to mix the two parties? Although Rahzel and Chiaki did have a joint party.

And I did talk to Makoto Yuuki [She adds the 'Yuuki' as an afterthought] so he is aware that I am planning one.

[ So, it's been a while since this one has been seen around Milly's house, yes?

Maizono feels terrible that she hasn't been visiting her mother as much as either of them would like to - while she did think that Milly could be rather boisterous and loud at times, she also thought highly of her since she was one of those people she felt like she could really trust with anything, too.

Her mind made up, she decides that today's a good day as any to stop by, say hello and catch up. So here she is standing outside Milly's door, failing to hide a basket behind her back that contains both a tea sampler set and a bottle of fine whiskey.

Knocking, she pauses for a few moments before calling out. ]

Milly-san? Are you home?

[milly, of course, is prepared in spirit, but not in clothing, for guests, and the knock at the door gets her to jump into a dress quickly. there's no time for hair and make-up, but will the visitor care? maybe. but does she? nope.

she's prepared for either new family member to be at the door, sans keys for some reason, but IT'S SAYAKA! THE FIRST DAUGHTER! (she can't say the best daughter, because she's had three, but she'll play favourites anyway.) in a split second, she latches onto her darling tightly, and doesn't let go. it's been too long.]

SAYAKA! Oh, it's so good to see you! I thought you were a stranger, with you calling me "Milly-san". You know you can call me "Milly" or "Mom" at this point. Honestly, did Nat truly screw your brains out? [AYYYYYYYYYYYYYY]

M-MILLY--!

[ Well, that's certainly one way of getting her to drop the honorific. Maizono squeaks in surprise at the sudden glomp, dropping her gift basket by accident - at least nothing broke? - but she does return it once she's had a moment or so to regain her composure and her normal heartbeat.

She can't help but smile lopsidedly at the older girl as she laughs, relaxing visibly as she shrugged. ]

Sorry, sorry...! Old habits and all... it's been way too long, Milly.

she gives sayaka one last squeeze and pulls away from her, scanning her over with her eyes.] Beautiful as ever! But you're absolutely right. Way too long for your old mother's heart! How could leave me alone like that?! I've been so lonely, so heartbroken. I've withered away to nothing, a ghost of what I once was! [she giggles and pulls her daughter inside, paying no mind to the basket.]

You've caught me just in time. I was just about to get ready for work. [not the school, the Other Work That No One Likes To Talk About.]

[ Maizono squeaks at being dragged into the house, but manages to grab the basket before Milly closes the door. Once they're inside she presents it to her as a gift. ]

I prepared it as a sort of belated gift... maybe you can use it for after you're done with work?

You better pinky swear that! I've missed you and Nat so much-- it's not quite the same without you two.

[and that goes for the rest of the party crew, honestly. that should be remedied, though. she hasn't had a party since... oh god, WHEN????

she takes the basket with a smile, and examines it. tea is excellent, of course, but whiskey... always important to have in the house! (but it must remain hidden from the husband.)]

Thank you, but why don't we use it now! I can open late, honestly. Except the other day, we had loads of business! I made so much, and we even stayed open all night! [someone is pretty excited about having to work extra, it seems.] Perhaps a toast to successes, past, present and future? [she winks, and starts toward her bedroom.] You decide with what, though. I'm going to get changed, alright?

Aw... all right, then! Pinky promise that I'll come visit more often!

[ See? Maizono's even holding out her pinky and everything so she and Milly can do the promise thing proper!

Either way, she pauses, glancing between the tea and the whisky for a few moments in thought before she nods, a small smile coming to her face as she waves for Milly to go get changed. ]

Sure... I'd like that! Maybe we could make a cocktail using both of something for the toast? That is possible, right...?

[she puts on her tights and her shirt, then grabs her makeup case, bringing it out to the kitchen so she can get ready while she talks to her lovely daughter.] By the way, if you're hungry, you know you can have anything here. I would hate for you to go hungry under my roof!
